The Siberian Husky is not only a breed - it's also a way of life.
It was spring 2013, the separation anxiety of my first dog, Gaiko, was getting worse.
After trying all the tricks and thinking about different options, I came to the conclusion that another dog could be a permanent solution to our problem. I started to think about the breed of my future dog. This time I was looking for primitive, as healthy breed as possible and more dog-friendly than a shikoku ken. After much deliberation, I settled on another favorite breed from my childhood; the Siberian Husky. On autumn of 2013, our first husky, Saga, came home. I fell in love with the breed as a little girl, when I got to know my aunt Riitta Kesäniemi's siberians. |
With Saga, the breed-related hobbies came to the fore, both of us learning the soul of a sled dog as novices with the support and advice of Riitta's experience.
I owe her a lot for all the information, advice and support I have received.
Very soon it became clear that Saga will not be our only husky and next year I got my second husky Fenris.
After all, you can go much faster with two - the hobby of mushing took away, as is usual with his breed. I had found my own breed and the way of life that went along with it.

Today, in addition to Gaiko, ten Siberian huskies live in our kennel, four of them are born here, from two different combinations. We train our dogs regularly, and when the schedule fits, I've also been happy to have training sessions with friends. Even though I haven't started my own racing career yet, I have lent my dogs to a couple of friends for the races. In the off-season, we also go to some dog shows.

This is the story of our kennel in a nutshell. But who are we the people behind the kennel name?
I'm Hanna, a circus director - or at least that's how it feels most of the time. I have worked in pet stores for over 15 years. Before dogs, my pet repertoire consisted of various terrarium animals and ferrets. The experience with dogs originally came from two very different mixed-breed dogs in my childhood home (beagle-Karelian bear dog and Rottweiler-Doberman-Dutch shepherd mixes).
The first dog I got as an adult, Gaiko the shikoku ken, however strongly turned the tables on primitive breeds.

My husband Petri joined this Siberian circus in the middle of the trip and is not as "crazy husky person" as his wife. Even though the responsibility for the dogs is largely mine, if necessary, Petri will also play his part in running our dog daycare, or if the dogs are without a new kennel or terrace and works as a handler in training. A kennel boy with potential for development!
In his free time, Petri enjoys being in nature, both by feeding the large game and hunting and fishing, so he got a drever as a helper for hunting hobby at the end of 2023.
Petri's greatest fun with the huskies is mushing them on a snowboard, the more dogs in the lines, the better! Our family also includes our little daughter Isa, who equally ensures that our puppies get used to the everyday life and sounds of a family with children. |
When you look at your dog's pedigree, it tells you what he ought to be.
When you look at your dog in a show ring, it tells you what he seems to be.
When you take your dog working, it tells you what he really is.
